Step 1 with U-Lite
The U-Lite Program will start you off by first completing a 4-page questionnaire that analyzes your symptoms before you lose weight and start having healthy food habits. You will then embark on a meal plan that involves having a breakfast, lunch and dinner every day where a protein and carbohydrate is consumed in correct amounts, and the U-Lite nutritional snackis taken 4 times a day between meals. This approach will bio-chemically set the body to have high energy and mental alertness, while using its excess fat for fuel and protecting its muscle mass (your calorie burning engine).

Step 2 with U-Lite
The Questionnaire is repeated again after 3 weeks. Alexandra Solano, MD will analyze the changes between these two questionnaires, and other markers to present an Action Plan that will address blood sugar support, additional weight loss needs, Nutritional Deficiencies* needing correction, food allergies or sensitivities issues, and whether any chronic conditions exist that may require other therapies.

Due to bad food habits, digestive problems and a food supply that is deficient in providing adequate levels of key nutrients such as the B vitamins, your body overtime develops nutritional deficiencies. Initially, the consequence of nutritional deficiencies, show up in the form of mild symptoms, that gets ignored by most people. However, over time they can develop into full blown chronic conditions. The U-Lite Program will pinpoint your nutritional deficiencies across 14 health conditions, any one of which can stop you from not only succeeding with weight loss, but also impacting your ability to live free of diabetes.

Step 3 with U-Lite
You will know how to eat to promote weight loss for life and healthy blood sugar which will reverse your Pre-Diabetes and prevent you from becoming a Diabetic. You will correct nutritional deficiencies before they become chronic conditions and in the process eliminate some or all of the symptoms you are experiencing. You will reduce or not need dangerous lifestyle induced medication, and you will want to share with your friends and family how great you feel.

Step 4 with U-Lite
As your weight drops, your blood sugar begins to normalize and your energy explodes giving you a zest for life that for many has been missing. You will be excited with your new found health and wellness and realization that you are in control of your health and destiny. This will qualify you to enter a contest when you visit your practitioner that could win you a prize but also some fame on You Tube. We want to record for America how The U-Lite program has changed you and your life. Some are so excited with their results they cannot stop talking about it, in which case you may want to join our affiliate program and generate a side income while sharing your success with the world.

Testimonials:

…I lost over 90 lbs and got to my goal weight with a little wiggle room to boot. It took a while to get there, but seeing the weight come off was a great motivator for me to keep going. I feel so much better, and it’s easier to find clothes that I want to wear. My blood work numbers are excellent – all came back within normal levels within 6 weeks of starting the program. BP is excellent, too, and I was pre-hypertensive when I started the diet…” -GB

“..I lost 65 lbs on it year before last (and have kept it off) and a family member lost 25 lbs. (and kept it off). I learned you have to change your attitude, your eating habits, your exercise level, etc. to change your life. I had tried other programs at different points in my life and met with some sucess. But this was definitely the right one for me at the right time of my life…” -Brian

How to Eat Organic Food on a Budget

Why Eat Organic Food on a Budget ?

If we want to eat organic food to be a part of our daily lifestyle the first word that comes to our mind is cost. If given a choice, nobody would like to have inorganic food as they destroy the immunity and also contain cancer causing hormones because of pesticides spray. Pesticides are nothing but slow poison that kills us silently. Including organic food in our daily diet reduces our day to day medicinal expenses. People prefer to eat organic food because of the health benefits it offers. There are several companies which offer discount coupons on their official websites for organic food.

Planning to Eat Organic Food on a Budget

People who want to eat organic food should plan their diet in such a way that they buy all organic food which is on discount or whose promotional coupons are available at that point of time.  Sprouts, pulses and other organic food helps to save a lot of money if we buy them with coupons or with other discount schemes.  While going for organic food products, people should always plan a budget in advance and prioritize their purchase of organic food. Deep freezer should be used to store organic food for the times when they might just become expensive.

Right selection of meat and dairy products is important to be able to eat organic food in a budget. People should always buys organic food in bulk as we all know that things automatically become cheaper when we buy them in bulk. To restrict your expense of organic foods to your budget, prefer them to purchase them online or try to buy organic food from local sellers as they sell it on cheaper rates in comparison to big brands. You need to do a little research and find out which are the brands that sell organic foods at low prices and buy from them.

Best method to eat organic food on a budget

To lower the cost of organic food, the best option is to grow your own organic food. Even the most expensive of organic food can be grown at home which would turn out to be much cheaper than buying it. The other thing one can do to meet the budget requirement of organic foods is that you should stop wasting the organic food. People who want to consume these organic foods within budget should try to buy them in raw and unprocessed form. You should always try to eat the seasonal organic food. By choosing organic foods in your daily routine you are simply choosing to pay a farmer rather than chemist!

Why a Food Allergy Test Can Help You Lose Weight

Did you know that food allergy or sensitivities could be causing you to gain weight  ?

Discover why a simple Food Allergy Blood test can Help you Shed Pounds….

Although it is true  that we gain weight when we eat more calories than we can burn off, there is a little missing puzzle to this conventional wisdom that holds the key to your ability to lose weight……….Food allergies.

If you have been checked by your doctor for medical conditions related to obesity such as hypothyroidism, Cushing’s syndrome, organ disease, prescription drug use, anxiety, blood sugar imbalance, and essential fatty acid deficiency……and you are still struggling to lose weight, it’s time to consider food allergy & sensitivities by getting a Food Allergy Test.

Take into account that reactions to foods are not always immediate. They can occur many hours later as bloating and swelling in the hands, feet, ankles, abdomen, chin and around the eyes. Much of the weight gained is fluid retention caused by inflammation and the release of certain hormones. On top of that, there is fermentation of foods, particularly carbohydrates, in the intestines which can result in a swollen distended belly and gas production. Indeed, it’s a well know fact that inflammation associated with food allergy & sensitivities can lead to weight gain.

Agape Integrative Medical Center does offer a food allergy test to check which food, additives and potential toxins would be causing your sensitivities and allergies.

Consider the science and let us know at Agape Integrative Medical Center if we can help you.

Discard your Cordless Phone, Reduce EMF exposure and Improve your Health

If you reduce your EMF exposure, you can improve your health…….learn how.

The greatest silent threat nowadays is wireless technologies ( microvawe, baby monitors, blue-tooth and cordless phone )

Our cells are constantly being attacked by these electromagnetic fields (EMF)…..we can’t escape them. It’s important to reduce your EMF exposure.

So in an effort to protect themselves, cells in your body will ” shut down “and keep vitamins and minerals out and unhealthy debris and bacteria inside the cell. The cell ages prematurely and eventually get sicks.

This could provide a reason why there are ‘sensitive people’ to electromagnetic fields (emf) and a growing epidemic of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue cases. It would make sense to reduce emf exposure and consequently safeguard your health.

Did you know that DECT cordless phones are in almost every people’s home and bedrooms ?

The cumulative effect of radiation from this DECT cordless phones in addition to other electronics can potentially affect your health.

Research shows that cell phones are the most common cause of tinnitus ( ringing in the ear )….

Reduce your EMF exposure and protect your health!

In Scandinavian countries, children 5-18 have higher brain cancer rates than their counterparts so they have outlawed cell phone usage in this group……interesting fact !

Watch Dr. Sinatra, Board Certified Cardiologist discuss why it’s important to reduce your EMF exposure.

How to protect yourself from Cordless phone and it’s radiation effect on your body and reduce your EMF exposure

  • Speak 30 inches away don’t place it close to your ear
  • Take nanokinase and good medical grade supplement daily
  • Place it on speakerphone
  • Keep cell phone usage away from small children ( more susceptible to radiation )

To your health,

Dr. Solano

Tips to Start a Sugar Free Diet

One of the most common questions I get in my practice for those clients trying to give up sugar is, “How do I start eliminating sugars from my diet?”

Tips to Start a Sugar Free Diet

Tip #1: Treat it as an addiction. Sugar is as addictive as drugs or smoking cigarettes. Find a good support system of friends and family and make them aware of your commitment to cut sugars.

Tip#2: Eliminate all processed foods from your kitchen….into the trash bin! The reason is simple: sugar is in almost all processed foods in abox or a can.

Tip #3: Make a commitment to a sugar free diet. Start eliminating sugars during a time ( ie weekend ) that is stress-free and relaxed, especially the first 2 to3 days. The first days are the most difficult as your body adjusts to the lack sugar in your system.

Tip #4: Drink lots of water and get into drinking green juices. Green juices are great ways to cut cravings ! For more information about it, read my green smoothie blog post.

Tips #5: Learn ways to find balance and reach out to friends and family for support….this way you prevent reaching out for snickers bar !

Tips #6: Take Chromium Synergy one to two capsules daily with each meal to regulate blood sugar in your body. This will help to cut your cravings and addiction for sugar loaded foods.

What do I eat in a sugar free diet ?

I have learned that every person has different ways of eating that work for them. Some of these options are vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, raw foods, paleo (a hunter-gatherer diet), high protein or clean eating (whole, unprocessed foods.).

Some people do better than others with certain styles of eating and that is alright. Find the style of eating that works best for you.

Keep a log of the foods you are eating as you transition into a sugar free lifestyle. When you eat something, take a written note of how it makes you feel—are you more energized or tired ? do you have headaches ? bloating ? constipation ? sleepy ?

If you can’t wrap your mind around the idea of going completely sugar free, try to slowly incorporate more healthy options like sprouted grain bread instead of a bun or an apple instead of a candy bar which gives you that sweet taste but without the sugar load.

Make your diet mostly consisting of vegetables, as organic, whole, unprocessed and local as you can possible. Your intake of veggies can include land veggies and root vegetables (winter squashes, yams, carrots, and red potatoes, to give some examples )

To each meal, add fat (olive oil, butter, flaxseed oil, avocados, etc.) and protein: nuts, meat, legumes (black beans, chickpeas, pinto beans, etc.) or dairy – mainly plain yogurt, kefir and white cheeses like mozzarella.

Here are some meal ideas taken directly from a sugar free kitchen:

Meals with meat:

• Grilled steak or chicken with grilled veggies and a big raw vegetable salad

• Roast chicken with green beans, salad, and curried vegetables

• A giant taco salad with ground bison, guacamole, salsa, a huge bowl of salad greens, sautéed onions and peppers

• Turkey sausages, homemade hash brown potatoes, sauteed greens and bacon

• Roast turkey with roasted acorn squash, salad, and steamed broccoli

• Roast beef with tomatoes, onions, and carrots and sautéed squash (zucchini or yellow squash)

• Grilled salmon and stir fry veggies seasoned with Bragg’s liquid aminos (a lower sodium, healthier version of soy sauce)

• Chicken salad with a bit of mayo and veggies on a huge green salad; black beans

• Grilled chicken breasts with a caprese salad, fresh peas, and a cucumber salad

• Bison steak, sautéed mushrooms, guacamole, a huge raw vegetable salad, quinoa

• Chicken, salsa, guacamole, jicama, peppers, onions, tomatoes and garlic on a huge salad

• Roasted chicken thighs with olives, onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and mushrooms; a large side salad; red potatoes

• Hamburgers (without a bun) with sautéed mushrooms, onions, lettuce, and tomato, a side salad, and homemade fries (I slice potatoes with the skin into thin strips, sprinkle them with olive oil spray, and bake them in the oven.)

• A salmon burger (no bun) served with sauteed spinach and onions, a large green salad, and a baked potato

• Grilled venison, elk or buffalo with sauteed kale and onions, sauteed mushrooms

• Baked salmon with lemon juice, soy sauce, and dill, with sauteed swiss chard

• Diced chicken with artichoke hearts and mushrooms in a creamy sauce; hummus and raw veggies; a side salad

• Stir fry veggies with chicken thighs

Meals without meat:

• Split pea soup and a large side salad

• A brothy soup with lots of vegetables, potatoes, and greens

• “Spaghetti:” spaghetti squash topped with a tomato sauce and parmesan

• Plain kefir or plain greek style yogurt with almonds

• Stir fried veggies with eggs

• An egg frittata with lots of sautéed veggies and pine nuts

• Baked winter squash with cinnamon and pecans and drizzled with flaxseed oil (I love this for breakfast!)

• Lentil soup with a large side salad

• Chili with a huge green salad

• Sauteed veggies and a baked red potato with butter

• Baked yam wedges and a huge green salad, a side of sauteed veggies

• Creamy millet (millet made with 4 parts water to 1 part millet) with sauteed veggies (a wonderful comfort food meal)

• A quinoa-veggie salad

• Homemade black beans, millet and sauteed peppers, garlic and onions

• Roasted red potatoes and veggies, a side salad

A Sugar Free Diet is the Road to a Healthier Lifestyle

To eat healthy this way, it might take weeks, months or years but each time that you make a healthier choice you body starts adapting to this new way of eating.

You will notice in a sugar free diet that your taste buds crave healthier foods versus the sugar laden options. You will notice sooner than later that you have more energy, more vitality, more radiant skin and your thinking is much clearer and sharper.

Be gentle in your journey to health…..and best wishes !

Improve your Mental Health-Neurotransmitters 101

Neurotransmitters… Understanding the basics

Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that regulate many physical and emotional processes including movement, stress response, cognition, emotions, energy, cravings, pain and much more. They primarily function in the central nervous system (CNS) and facilitate communication between the brain and the body’s glands, organs and muscles.

Inadequate neurotransmitter function disrupts signals to target tissues and have a profound influence on overall health and well-being. In fact, imbalances in certain neurotransmitters are associated with many of the prevalent symptoms and conditions seen in doctors’ offices today including:

  • Mood disorders: depression, anxiety
  • Adrenal dysfunction: fatigue, insomnia
  • Loss of mental focus: ADD, ADHD, cognitive fog
  • Addiction and dependency
  • Hormonal imbalances: E2 dominance, E2 deficiency, low androgens
  • Loss of appetite control: obesity and insulin resistance

When functioning properly, the neurotransmission system has natural checks and balances in the form of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters. Though there are many neurotransmitters found in the body, there are six in particular that play significant roles in primary symptomatic conditions.

  • Serotonin: involved in the regulation of sleep, mood, appetite and aggression.
  • GABA: the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the CNS, GABA is important for balancing the excitatory actions of other neurotransmitters.
  • Dopamine: largely responsible for regulating the pleasure/reward pathway, memory and motor control.
  • Norepinephrine: involved in a wide variety of actions including attention and focus, regulating heart rate, affecting blood flow, and suppressing inflammation.
  • Epinephrine: much like norepinephrine, this excitatory neurotransmitter helps regulate muscle contraction, heart rate, glycogen breakdown, blood pressure and more, and is heavily involved in the stress response.
  • Glutamate: involved in most aspects of normal brain function including cognition, memory and learning, although high levels of glutamate can cause excitotoxicity, a process where nerve cells are damaged by excessive stimulation.

Neurotransmitter imbalances can be easily identified with a single, noninvasive urine sample. Testing provides a tool to understand each patient’s specific neuroendocrine imbalances, which can be corrected with targeted nutritional therapy, diet, and lifestyle interventions.

Don’t Forget About Checking Your Hormones…

Feeling ‘ Forgetful’ and noticing poor cognition ie attention, focus, concentration are some of the most commonly reported symptoms of menopause. In fact, peri-menopausal women were 1.4 times as likely to report forgetfulness compared to pre-menopausal women, according to the Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation (SWAN) taking into account other reported factors like stress.

Did you know that there are a number of ways through which changes in hormones affect brain function and memory.

checking hormones

Estrogens have direct effects in the brain by augmenting the number of synapses in the hippocampus. This is the region of the brain where transferring short term memories to long term memories is thought to occur.

Estrogen and progesterone both help to protect the brain from exogenous and endogenous toxins including glutamate-induced excitotoxicity. Another role of progesterone is as a potent anti-inflammatory agent in the central nervous system, working to rebuild the blood-brain barrier, reduce edema and down-regulate the inflammatory cascade in the event of physical or ischemic trauma.

Another important mechanism through which hormones enhance memory is by increasing acetylcholine activity. Acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter involved in learning and encoding new memories and its production is greatly decreased in conditions of compromised memory including Alzheimer’s disease. The hormone estrogen increases the activity of the enzyme choline-acetyl transferase, which stimulates the synthesis of acetylcholine.

Maintaining optimal hormone levels throughout the menopausal transition can not only aide in the management of classically “menopausal symptoms” such as hot flashes and night sweats, but can prevent and treat memory loss and protect the brain from chemical and physical insult…..and that is a good enough reason to have your hormones checked via a salivary test.

As always, the correct balance of hormones is important, so remember to test, not guess. Baseline salivary hormone and urinary neurotransmitter levels is the best first step toward protecting and enhancing the memories of your peri-menopausal and menopausal patients. Test Now…..
